Course Information

This course will give delegates the skills needed to carry out inspections of locations and equipment rooms, wire counts, cable testing and finding cable faults.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should already be competent in the following (or equivalent):

• Basic Signalling 1 (BS1)
• Basic Signalling 2 (BS2)
• Installation Techniques
• Safe Procedures When Working on Electrical Equipment (SPWEE)

Course Outcomes

The course will cover the following topics:

• Inspection of locations and equipment rooms
• Relay Inspection
• Wire counts and continuity tests
• Cable and insulation testing
• Polarity checks of 2 core cables
• Core to earth insulation resistance
• Faults found on cables

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed by completing practical activities along with completing a test marked by their assessor. Successful delegates will be awarded a certificate demonstrating their competency.
