Course Information

This course is designed to train the delegates on the installation and maintenance that are involved with Balises. The course will cover the steps taken in order to complete installation on each Balise used on the network. It is designed to develop the candidate’s knowledge and skills with Balises, and the course covers practical sessions involved with Balises. Throughout the course delegates will use the SMTH and SMS for the Balise that is used in the training.

Pre-requisites

Before attending this course, delegates should have successfully completed Signal Engineering Maintenance 1 (SEM 1) or equivalent.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:

  • Maintain operational & personal safety
  • Perform visual checks for damage
  • Determine if the Balise is ready for installation
  • Verify the correct Balise ID for installation
  • Determine the appropriate mounting method of the Balise
  • Perform measuring Balise position in accordance with the form
  • Identify the precise mounting position of the Balise
  • Install the Balise in the correct position
  • Dispose of the faulty equipment

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed by completing a written theory test, along with a practical test observed by their assessor. Delegates will receive a certificate upon successfully completing their assessments.
