Course Information

This course is designed to train the delegates on the programming of a Balises. The course will cover the steps taken in order to complete programming on each Balise used on the network. It is designed to develop the candidate’s knowledge and skills with Balises, and the course covers practical sessions involved with Balises. Throughout the course delegates will use the SMTH and SMS for the Balise that is used in the training.

Prerequisites

Before attending this course, delegates should have successfully completed Signal Engineering Maintenance 1 (SEM 1) or equivalent.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the training the delegate will be able to:

• Maintain operational & personal safety
• Perform visual checks for damage
• Establish the correct usage of the Balise
• Determine the appropriate Balise to be used
• Demonstrate correct labelling
• Demonstrate the appropriate programming documentation
• Identify the exact telegram for programming a Balise
• Perform programming of a Balise correctly
• Perform independent verification of a Balise

Assessment

Delegates will be assessed by completing a written theory test, along with a practical test observed by their assessor. Delegates will receive a certificate upon successfully completing their assessments.
